Health Benefits of Tomatoes
Research of the health benefits has concluded that eating tomatoes in any form – paste, sauce, or fresh – is a wonderful source of anti-oxidants and is beneficial to the body. Tomatoes are a great source of LYCOPENE which in studies conducted in Europe and in the USA have been linked to reducing a number of cancerous conditions – prostrate, stomach, breast and other cancers.
In a recent study in the UK, Lycopene has been found to reduce the effects of sun damage to the skin and to actually reverse these effects. However, the study did indicate that although tomatoes were found to reduce the effects, it did state that the use of normal sunscreens in harsh environments was advised.
Raw in salads, juices, sauces or cooked to make tasty dishes, the tomato protects our organism from various forms of cancer like prostate, reduces bad cholesterol levels in the blood stream and protects cells from free radicals.
